Trainings

One of the main parts of the project are three international youth meeting.

They will take place:

  • In Lecce, Italy in December 2009
  • In Lefkas, Greece in March/April 2010
  • In Metz, France in July 2010

Young people will participate in one of the three international peer education meetings. These short meetings will give young people a chance to come up with their own innovative, creative or even crazy ideas and concepts for youth participation. It will be a chance for them to share experience, learn new skills and develop their competences necessary for promotion of participation.

The programme of the meetings

Day 0 Arrival of participants
Day 1
Morning Introduction of the meeting and the concept of the project, Getting to know each other, Ice-breaking NGO Market – presentation of organisations and group (special focus on activities in the field of participation)
Afternoon What is youth participation? – Expert input Intercultural definitions of youth participation - Discussion in smaller groups Forms of youth participation - Plenary group Youth participation as a political priority of the European union - Presentation
Evening Cultural evening – presentation of countries, socialising
Day 2
Morning Innovative methodology of youth participation
  • brainstorming about participation methods attractive to young people
  • simulation game
  • discussions in small groups – how to involve creativity and innovation in youth participation?
  • input in plenary session – practical experience with different methods of youth participation in different European countries
Afternoon Preparation of the local youth forum
  • Brainstorming about concrete methodology for the youth forum
  • Division of roles between young “participation ambassadors”
  • Work in small groups – preparation of the youth forum
Evening National evening of the hosting country – cultural programme
Day 3
Morning Final preparations of the youth forum
  • How to motivate young people to participate?
  • How to act as facilitators – what means to be facilitators?
  • Brainstorming about the product of the youth forum
Afternoon Youth forum with the participation of local decision-makers
“Structured dialogue between young people and decision-makers on local level in the European countries”
  • Plenary opening of the youth forum – introduction to the programme and methodology, speeches by local decision-makers (30 min.)
  • Division of local young people into working groups (topics will vary in different locations) (15 min.)
  • Discussions in the working groups facilitated by “participation ambassadors” (3 hours)
  • Presentation of the conclusions in the plenary sessions (30 min.)
  • Plenary discussion between decision-makers and young people (30 min.)
  • Presentation of the Youth in Action programme to the young people and decision-makers (30 min.)

Day 4
Morning Special peer learning workshop about the topic of the meeting:
  • Youth participation and equal opportunities – France
  • Youth participation and modern technologies – Italy
  • Youth participation and European integration - Greece
Afternoon Finalising the course: what did we learn? & Future projects
  • Open Space Method
  • How to make follow-up and use the experience?
  • Creating concrete project with the support of the facilitators and coaches
